I have been in a very autumn mood with everything from decorations to food and hot drinks lately. Most of all, I have been craving apple crisp! I’m not much of a baker – I usually leave that to Leta – but I asked her advice on a recipe. I figured I would make a couple of them for home and for work. However, even though I followed it exactly, of course I still failed. It was absolutely awful, and I was not about to waste the rest of my honeycrisp apples now that I knew for certain baking was not my forte.

So I threw them all into a pot with a little bit of water, sugar, and a tablespoon of cinnamon. I accidentally made the best applesauce I’d ever had. I never put much thought into making applesauce, but it made frequent appearances in my elementary school lunch box and I always enjoyed it. Little did I know it was so easy, even I could make it without screwing up!

Easy Cinnamon Applesauce Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 4 honeycrisp apples, peeled and chopped
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/8 cup sugar (or to taste, depending on how sweet your apples are)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Throw all ingredients into a sauce pan
  2. Bring to a boil, cover and reduce to low for 20 minutes
  3. Blend contents in blender until smooth
