Let’s talk Washington wedding venues so *naturally* beautiful, they require setup, less stress, and therefore give more opportunity to focus on celebrating! Even expensive luxury wedding venues can have eyesores that need your Midas touch to take them from tacky to tasteful. But the real key to wowing your guests, being more present on your wedding day, and turning your milestone into a masterpiece can be as simple as picking a naturally beautiful venue. When nature and architecture act as your wedding design, you won’t need to break the bank on finishing touches in order to achieve that luxuriously aesthetic celebration you’ve seen in so many wedding inspiration blogs. But the amount of venue options out there is overwhelming, and knowing where to look is the hard part.

After being in this industry for over a decade and visiting hundreds of venues, I’ve put together this list of the top 5 Washington wedding venues that are so beautiful, they practically decorate themselves. Don’t worry – I did all the research for you from guest capacity to price range. And just because I like you, I’m also going to share a game changer secret insider tip about each one that I’ve picked up along the way. Spoiler alert: One involves a wallaby petting zoo.

With a solid chance of snow in winter and sunny skies in summer, Sleeping Lady is great for weddings all year round. However, I recommend booking in June or July for warm weather and optimal lighting.

Take your photographer back outside just before sunset to capture the stunning, fiery alpenglow on Sleeping Lady Mountain in your photos. Specifically at Sleeping Lady Resort, I’ve found this to generally occur around ~10 minutes after the listed sunset time for that day. However, this will vary by time of year, so definitely ask your photographer to keep an eye on it around sunset.

Issaquah, WA

Located just 30 minutes outside of Seattle, it’s almost unfair this place even exists so close to the city and airport. If you’ll be making a weekend of it, I highly recommend taking your bridal party on a field trip to the nearby Wallaby Ranch in Fall City where you can meet, pet and feed wallabies and kangaroos. Yes, I’ve done this personally and a kangaroo named Rocky GAVE ME A HUG – here’s proof.

For the best prices and a more exclusive experience, I recommend booking your celebration on a Monday or during the off season around March (after daylight savings) like Jill and Peter did above.

#2. Thornewood Castle

Lakewood, WA

Listen up Renaissance fanatics and Game of Thrones lovers, because this one’s for you! Washington has a castle wedding venue, and it’s not even that far from Seattle (just under an hour, to be exact). Little did we all know that Lakewood is home to Thornewood Castle, a medieval style architectural masterpiece built by Chester Thorne from actual imported 15th-century brick from Wales. At one point, it was even used as a set for the Stephen King film Rose Red, which you can see clips of in the trailer. Some will even tell you it is home to several ghosts!

This three acre property has endless possibilities, and every inch is tremendously attractive. From the sunken English “secret garden” to the cozy, sandstone hearth in the Great Hall, there are about a million different indoor and outdoor options so you can really personalize your wedding and make it your own. Women Getting Married wrote an amazing guide to planning a wedding at Thornewood Castle.

Capacity: 125 indoor, 200 outdoor
Price: $2,950 – $6,950 (official price list)
Amenities: Rentals & Equipment, Service Staff (source: Women Getting Married)
On-site accommodations: Yes, with sizable discounts!

#1. Volunteer Park Conservatory

Capitol Hill, Seattle, WA

volunteer park conservatory wedding ceremony photo

And here it is, the holy grail of wedding venues that decorate themselves.

The Volunteer Park Conservatory is probably the best venue for intimate wedding ceremonies Washington State has to offer by far. Outside of chairs, which are provided by the venue, the conservatory requires nos setup at all. So if you desire an entirely stress-free and intimate location to say, “I do” and get some incredible wedding photos, this is the venue for you.

Comprised of 3,426 glass panes, it is guaranteed to stay warm, dry, bright, and lush year round. This means you can wear summer style wedding dresses in winter, and you’ll never have to worry about rainy weather. Furthermore, Volunteer Park has plenty of beautiful nooks for wedding photos to give you a variety between greenhouse and outdoors. Oh, and did I mention it was dirt cheap?

Ceremonies can be held after operating hours starting at 4:15 PM. You will want at least two hours of venue access for a ceremony, portraits, and family formals. That said, I recommend scheduling your celebration between March 8 (or after daylight savings) and October 1 for optimal lighting. My favorite month for weddings here? Early May when the blue bells around Volunteer Park are in bloom.

Capacity: 25
Price: $170/hr (two-hour minimum)
Amenities: Chairs provided upon request (source: Volunteer Park Conservatory)
On-site accommodations: No

Since there is no sound system at the conservatory, we highly recommend recommend booking a string quartet or soloist. The live string instruments resonate off the glass panes beautifully. To save money while also making a positive difference, considering hiring a student from the UW School of Music.

The early stages of wedding planning can be so daunting, and finding the perfect venue is one of the hardest parts. Hopefully this little inside scoop on epic places to tie the knot in Washington could deliver some inspiration while you’re on the hunt. Until then, of luck on your search for the perfect fit!
