Hattie and Drew's MV Skansonia wedding fell on a perfect rainy Seattle day. It perfectly embodied the quintessential Emerald City wedding experience. Their photos were among the most expressive I've ever captured, which came as no surprise given Hattie's background as a producer and Drew's as an actor.

This was my first time photographing a wedding at Seattle's oldest standing wooden ferry, and I quickly realized that this venue is now my favorite in the city. Whether in sunshine or rain, the MV Skansonia will bring all your nautical wedding dreams to life.

About The MV Skansonia

Landmark Event Co. manages the MV Skansonia. This historic, art deco, nautical-style event space is a preserved wooden ferry. Built in the early 1900s, it remains stationary on North Lake Union and does not move.

Furthermore, the venue offers panoramic views of the Seattle skyline. Additionally, it features stunning indoor and outdoor spaces. A wedding at the MV Skansonia accommodates up to 200 seated guests for a reception and 150 for a ceremony.

Seattle wedding venue review: MV Skansonia, which is also the last wooden ferry ‘round here. Perfect for giving up to 200 of your family and friends the quintessential Emerald City experience on your wedding day. Not so perfect for small bladders! #weddingvenue #weddingphotography

Where To Take Photos

This venue offers many visually appealing spaces for wedding photos. There is plenty of variety even if you need to stay indoors or in covered areas due to bad weather. The second-floor balcony, especially at the bow, is perfect for capturing the wedding party, and a drone can add a unique perspective.

Tip: For more variety in wedding photos, consider doing what Hattie and Drew did: have the first look and couple photos at Volunteer Park. It's only an eight-minute drive away and offers beautiful scenery all year round.
