Brittany and Jonny’s Wedding on Orcas Island
It’s about time I share the story of Brittany and Jonny’s wedding on Orcas Island. I’ll begin this adventure by saying my friend Brittany is a very magical person. One day, she found a very magical Jonny to do life with. A little while down the road, they bought a little plot of land in Doe Bay on Orcas Island. And then in October 2020, they celebrated their love by saying “I do” in front of some of their closest family and friends on their own little cliff. Following their ceremony, the three of us set off to climb above the fog and capture some wedding portraits at Mount Constitution with phenomenal views.

Their wedding weekend remains vividly memorable to me as one of the most enchanting weekends in my entire career. What made it truly special were the various reasons behind it. Instead of choosing a hotel, the couple, who were also close friends of mine, and all the guests, including myself, decided to camp at Moran State Park throughout the weekend. I made a deliberate effort to wake up early and capture the captivating sunrise and the mystical fog enveloping Lake Moran. As I set off for the wedding, I allowed myself the pleasure of a leisurely drive, cherishing each moment. It was a period in my life marked by significant personal challenges, and this entire experience served as a poignant reminder of the inherent beauty that exists even in difficult times. It reaffirmed my belief that life can truly be extraordinary..
Wedding Ceremony in Doe Bay, Orcas Island
Brittany and Jonny’s little plot of plant in Doe Bay rests upon a cliffside in the forest that overlooks the water. Coincidentally on my way through their neighborhood, I was met by deer after deer! They exchanged some of the most heartfelt, whimsical and heartfelt vows I have ever heard. I swear there was hardly a dry eye on the plot.
Wedding photos at Mount Constitution
After their cocktail hour, we took off to do some sunset wedding photos at Mount Constitution. The summit is a drive up location in Moran State Park, so minimal hiking was needed. It had been a bucket list destination for me for quite some time, so needless to say I was absolutely thrilled Brittany and Jonny were both game to devote so much time to their portrait adventure. Having so much time to create so much magic is one of the greatest aspects of intimate weddings and elopements. Especially on Orcas Island!
Toward the top of the mountain, we rose above the fog and witnessed some of the most stunning views I have ever had the pleasure of documenting a couple in. I’m simply overwhelmed by the amount of stunning images we created that afternoon. I can’t think of another time where I’ve ever been so excited about what’s on my camera as I was that day.
