This music festival campground wedding at Silver Lake Park in Maple Falls, WA ranks among my top three most enjoyable weddings. I might be a bit biased because Sara is not only my good friend but also my second photographer. This meant that I had the dual role of being a guest and the wedding photographer.

Having a Campground Wedding at Silver Lake Park
Sara and Michal chose to have their DIY fall wedding at Silver Lake Park. Silver Lake offers a Day Lodge where weddings and receptions can take place. There are also cabins nearby where guests can stay, or they can camp in the campground.
However, Sara and Michal love the outdoors and wanted to go for a more camping and music festival feel, so they opted to rent the entire group camp instead. It was a beautiful October day, so they had their ceremony in the field. They had their reception and music festival dance party at the picnic shelter and forest in the heart of the camp.
Silver Lake Park Group Camp
The group camp is a great place for an affordable campground wedding in Washington. It provides 33 RV campsites equipped with water and electricity. Additionally, it features a 75-person picnic shelter with:
- a fireplace
- stovetops
- electricity
- a functional sink
- serving counters
- picnic tables
- one outhouse (it was pretty clean)
- and a spacious gravel parking area
A picture of the layout can be found here.
Silver Lake Park Campground Wedding Cost
Residents of Whatcom country can rent out the Group Camp for about $315, and non-residents can rent for about $300. According to their website, reservations can only be made by phone at 360-778-5850.
Where to Wedding Photos at Silver Lake Park
Sara and Michal's first look took, portraits and drone photo took place at an AirBNB on the other side of the lake. The remaining couple photos were taken by the river, which is about a 15 minute drive toward Mount Baker.

Flower Boat Drone Wedding Photo
I adore many photographs from this wedding, but what excites me most is the flower boat drone wedding photo we captured. After having a loose idea for a drone wedding photo with a couple in a boat adorned with floral garlands for a while, the day I got to create it had finally come.
I intended to bring this concept to life at Sara and Michal's wedding, but things took a wrong turn. We were disappointed to find out that the campground had stopped renting boats for the season just a week before the wedding. Furthermore, the boat we had access to was heavy, wet, and taking on water. It was impossible for it to float with two people.
However, there was a silver lining. The florist, Pozie by Natalie, delivered numerous buckets of loose flowers for the reception. Even though we didn't have a formal garland, I filled the boat with every bucket of flowers Natalie brought, creating the illusion that it was brimming with blooms.
Music Festival Wedding
Let's dive into the music festival part of this amazing event!
Sara and Michal's music festival wedding featured not one, not two, but three incredible performances. Following the energetic live band acts, our mutual friend Kevin took over as the DJ for the rest of the night.
Once I had finished my official duties and enjoyed a few glasses of wine, my inner nightlife photographer, Jacquelyn, sprang to life. Yes, you heard that right! In my early 20s, I used to be a nightlife photographer. It was an absolute thrill to revisit my passion for capturing the vibrant energy of people at parties. I'm excited to share some of the lively moments captured in these pictures. Scroll to the end to experience the chaos!
