Edgewater Hotel Wedding ceremony

The Edgewater Hotel Wedding | Hannah + Cooper

Hannah and Cooper’s Edgewater Hotel wedding really set the gold standard for winter weddings in Seattle.

With winter in Seattle typically comes rain and gloom, making it a less desirable time for a wedding. However, off season weddings are an excellent way to ensure you get the venue and vendors you want with little competition. It’s also a great way to lock in better prices.

Outdoor wedding venues can be a bit of a gamble this time of year! Luckily The Edgewater Hotel is an incredible indoor wedding venue where you can get amazing wedding photos without ever needing to go outside. Because of its amazing views of Elliot Bay from the ceremony and dining hall, nuptials are able to give their guests a quintessential and unique Pacific Northwest wedding experience.

@jacquelyn.portolese One of my favorite wedding venues for a winter wedding in Seattle! Very few venues give quite the luxury wedding experience for up to 200 seated guest with a view like The Edgewater Hotel does… all without ever having to step foot outside! If you’re lucky like H + C were, you might even see an orca out the window on your wedding day. #weddingtiktok #weddingvenue #weddingphotographer ♬ vlog, chill out, calm daily life(1370843) - SUNNY HOOD STUDIO

About The Edgewater Hotel Seattle

You may recognize The Edgewater Hotel from a famous photograph of the Beatles fishing out its windows from 1964. It is Seattle’s only waterfront hotel, and it boasts unobstructed views of both Elliot Bay and the islands of Puget Sound.

If you’re lucky like Hannah and Cooper were, you may even get a visit from one of our local pods of Orcas on your wedding day!

The Edgewater Hotel offers seven different rooms for your event. Whether you have 25 guests or 220 guests, there is an event space available for whichever kind of wedding you dream of.

  • Reception space for up to six hours
  • Passed out hors d’ouevres, tableside wine service, and banquet staff
  • Tables, chairs, and a selection of linen colors
  • Setup, cleanup and teardown of the event
  • Overnight accommodations for the couple

Additionally, a 20% gratuity fee will be added to your package.

Eep! The Edgewater Hotel Has Challenging Lighting! How To Choose A Photographer Accordingly:

One thing I will admit: the lighting in the large ceremony/dining hall is incredibly challenging for several reasons.

Due to both the ceiling lights and the chandeliers, the light pollution can be quite orangey and hit couples and their guests at unflattering angles during their ceremony and reception.

Furthermore, the windows in this room can produce a lot of backlight during the day time, especially at sunset.

For those reasons, I recommend hiring an experienced professional photographer has an advanced understanding of color correction and/or has special lighting equipment to offset tungsten lighting.

Conclusion

The Edgewater Hotel is perfect for weddings year-round. It shines in winter, and it suits weddings big or small. But, the lighting in the main hall can be tricky. You'll need a skilled photographer for the best shots.
