Yasi + Tyler’s Volunteer Park Conservatory Wedding in Seattle

I am simply over the moon for this Volunteer Park Conservatory wedding in Seattle. Yasi and Tyler's infectious smiles will surely steal your heart when you see their photos, and they will definitely inspire your Seattle winter wedding plans. I photograph weddings at Volunteer Park Conservatory about 5-10 times a year, and it never disappoints. That being said, I think I officially know just about everything there is to know about having a wedding here.

I'll share Yasi and Tyler's winter wedding at Volunteer Park Conservatory below of course. However, for a full wedding gallery from each season at Volunteer Park Conservatory, as well as awesome planning tips that will make your greenhouse wedding special, keep reading!

You can also check out my TikTok that shows a ton of video clips from the venue. It kind of serves as a little tour!

About Volunteer Park Conservatory Weddings

My favorite thing about a Volunteer Park Conservatory wedding is that it's summer year round in a greenhouse. Yasi and Tyler's wedding took place in February 2023, and even still Yasi was able to wear a summer wedding dress. The warmest room in the venue The Seasonal Room, stays around 73 degrees Fahrenheit at all times. Additionally, the conservatory is so gorgeous inside, you won't have to spend a penny on decorating.

Planning Tips For Your Volunteer Park Conservatory Wedding

I've photographed more than 30 weddings at the Volunteer Park Conservatory. Here are my greatest wedding planning tips that I've picked up along the way:

  • Private access to the conservatory begins at 4:15 PM at the earliest. For the best lighting, I recommended choosing a wedding date where the sun will set at 6:00 PM or later. (Yasi and Tyler's wedding took place on February 11th, 2023 and the sun set at 5:30 PM that day)
  • Hire a student from the UW School of Music to play your wedding music. It's affordable, and it also supports a student's professional resume as a musician.
  • Chairs are included, but you and your guests are responsible for setting them up and putting them away.
  • The conservatory is a small space. Get your larger group photos outside in front of the greenhouse!
  • Book at least three hours with your wedding photographer. This gives you enough time to do photos around the park, the conservatory, a ceremony, and family photos. Book a fourth or fifth hour if you would like photos off site (e.g. at Chophouse Row) and/or reception coverage.
  • Have a grand exit! The Volunteer Park Conservatory allows wedding sparklers (the longer, the better) just outside the venue, which is great for weddings that end just after sunset. Automatic bubble guns, smoke grenades, ribbon streamers and even nerf guns are also great wedding exit ideas.
  • Don't forget to print bring your "wedding in progress" paper that the conservatory sends you when you book. Putting this on the front door will prevent visitors from trying to noisily tug on the door and interrupt your ceremony.
