Within Sodo Wedding | Sarah + Rory
This Within Sodo wedding between two high school sweethearts was nothing short of magical. I left Sarah and Rory’s wedding with a happy heart and a smile so big, my cheeks hurt. Their love has been on a longer journey than many of us have known, and it was incredible to be invited to celebrate that with them.
Getting Ready at The Woodmark Hotel & Spa
The day began at The Woodmark Hotel & Spa. Just before their first look, Rory told me about how they met because Sarah passed him notes in high school. The notes were love letters, and were delivered anonymously by their mutual friend. Until one day, the note contained a phone number. When Rory called, it was Sarah. I’m not going to lie to you… I cried five times during their wedding. Five freaking times! And hearing this story was the first time. (Don’t worry, I wasn’t the only one with the waterworks!) The second time I cried was shortly thereafter, when Sarah came up behind him with her mother, bridesmaids, and junior bridesmaid playing the ukulele.
The Wedding at Within Sodo
When we arrived at WithinSodo, I was shocked at how thoughtfully planned everything was. Sarah had designed the entire wedding herself, and with such beautiful attention to color and detail. The ceremony took place upstairs on the roof, and dinner downstairs beneath Within Sodo’s beautiful light fixtures.
My absolute favorite part of the day, however, was the FLASH DANCE! Sarah’s sister got a hold of the microphone after first dances. She started roasting Rory over how she loved her sister more than he did, and Rory came up to her like he was ready to duke it out. Suddenly, they busted into a totally choreographed dance. Then to everyone’s surprise, about 30 more guests joined in! Sarah cried, I cried… Even the coordinator cried!
Sarah and Rory are the kind of people who I strive to work with. They are truly, madly, deeply in love with one another, creative, and simply to be around them and their family and friends is heartwarming. I left this wedding with cheeks sore from grinning. Every night, I make this same walk back to my car and smile until my face hurts. Sometimes I feel like I could have nothing else in this world and still be so happy and fulfilled as long as I had this job.
